Middle Kingdom Covid Restrictions (April 2)

Important news, Cleftlands!!

Kingdom is removing ALL Covid restrictions, basically immediately. Their Excellencies have decided that Cleftlands shall follow suit for Baronial activities. This means that we no longer require a proof of vaccination nor negative test result to attend SCA activities. No attendance taken, no waivers, no restrictions of any kind. Spring truly means new beginnings!

Please keep in mind that groups and activities may determine additional restrictions, so you could still see rules in place at things like guild meetings, etc. We will continue to watch the situation, and may make changes should things go in the wrong direction.

Thank you all for your assistance during the last two years!

Claricia de la Mere
Seneschal, Barony of the Cleftlands
seneschal@cleftlands.org

From the office of the Middle Kingdom Seneschal:

Dear Midrealm,

The day long anticipated has arrived! The map of the Midrealm has no red counties on the community risk map with the majority showing yellow or low risk.

https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/…

In accordance with the guidelines of the CDC and the Tiers implemented by the kingdom the COVIDSafe vaccination/negative test requirement will be removed from all events/gatherings and meetings effective at 11.59pm on Saturday April 2nd.

You may ask why don’t I drop it right now? Because there are groups holding events today and the last minute is a terrible time to change the rules. Ask anyone who has ever run an event, a weeks notice is polite.

What does this mean for you? There is no requirement to provide proof of vaccination to attend an event or meeting. We are no longer collecting signatures. All COVID restrictions are lifted and events may move to pre-pandemic norms.

As always you are welcome to send comments to seneschal@midrealm.org
Yours in service

Congratulations Lord Hrafnkell Inn Rauði Eykelsson, Social Media Coordinator!

The Cleftlands would like to welcome the Hrafnkell Inn Rauði Eykelsson as Social Media Coordinator!

A special thanks to the outgoing Social Media Coordinator Lady Æthelwynn Skerra Dimma for her hard work and service over the last years.

Meeting Minutes: 23-Mar-56

    • An ID or SCA membership card must still be shown for all attendees age 18 and up at the in-person activity.
    • Instead of contact tracing, each attendee must sign a waiver stating that they went through the check-in process (it does not track what type of information was shown, only that they were verified to attend).
    • Information can now be checked by any designated person, instead of only warranted officers and marshals, and there can be multiple people checking at a large event. The person/people doing the checking no longer have to sign a separate waiver, but they do have to upload the attendee waiver sheet to Kingdom. (or send it to me and I can do it)
    • The Society disclaimer must still be posted with each invitation to an in-person activity and at the activity itself.
    • Go to midrealm.org/reopening for updated information.
    • The Middle Kingdom  policy and FAQ have additional details about what constitutes “official.” At each activity a person needs to be designated the official vaccination checker, and must sign and date a statement to be handed in with the attendance record. Please contact Lady Claricia for additional information or with questions – seneschal@cleftlands.org
  • Baronial meetings will be held every other week in March and April. In May, we hope to return to weekly meetings, and to hold them outdoors as soon as weather permits. ID and proof of vaccination is required. The next meeting is March 9.
  • Meetings still require attendance being taken. Please save time and sign up for the upcoming Baronial meeting here:  https://forms.gle/qyj926Tk53MNEqc46
  • Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 is asked to alert the seneschal. The name of the person will be given to the Middle Kingdom and the county board of health, according to kingdom procedures. Names of COVID-19-positive gentles will not be publicly announced.
  • Updates on SCA and kingdom restrictions, and baronial updates, will be distributed via the Cleftlist email list and the baronial Facebook page.
  • In an effort to keep business meetings short, and to reduce the number of announcements, gentles who have announcements are asked to send them prior to the meeting to Chronicler THL Jolicia atte Northclyfe at chronicler@cleftlands.org.

Guilds and Guild Adjacent Activities

Some guilds are hosting virtual online activities; please contact the person in charge for details or see the Cleftlands Facebook group for more information. Guilds are permitted to meet in small groups, according to the guidelines that are available on the Cleftlands website, along with forms needed to do an official guild meeting. Guilds are the special interest groups of the SCA: people working together to focus on a particular activity. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings.

When hosted at a private location, the owners may have additional requirements and restrictions for attendance. Please check with them for details.

As always, please use the new online A&S Activities Tracker on the Midrealm Services Portal to note what you’ve been up to.

Polling for the Next Baronage of the Cleftlands

Hello again all,

Polling day is here! The poll to give your thoughts on the next Baronage of the Cleftlands is now live. Please go to this link to read the candidates’ letters of intent and, when you are ready, fill out the poll:

Baronial Polling

  • The poll will be open until 11:59 pm on February 23. No submissions can be accepted after that time, as all the responses will be sent to Their Majesties for review and Their final decision.
  • Only one submission from each person will be counted, and yes, they do check.
  • If you reside in the official area of the Cleftlands, which is Cuyahoga County, you would fill out the Resident poll.
  • If you live outside of that area, you would fill out the Non-Resident poll, even if you consider Cleftlands to be your home group.
  • All comments and polls are read – so if you do consider Cleftlands as your home group, please say so in your comments! That will weigh in when considering the feedback.
  • If you would like to fill the poll out on paper, you can request the PDF and I will send it to you so that you can print and mail at your leisure. We keep track of the requests to try to make sure all the paper ballots are received. Just make sure it is postmarked by the 23rd!
  • There will be sessions with the candidates to get to know them better. The first will be recorded and released asap after February 6, and the second will be a live discussion held via Zoom on February 16.
  • After the poll is complete, Their Majesties may review and make their decision at their leisure. The decision will be announced, and the new Coronet will be invested at our April 9 event.
  • This whole process is done in collaboration with a Kingdom officer, so everything has been overseen by them to make sure we are acting in accordance with rules and best practices. That will continue to be done throughout the rest of the process. In case you were wondering where all these rules and recommendations come from, there’s an officer for that! 😉

If you have any questions, let me know.

Thank you!
