Remember there is a fairly important election this year – check that you are registered to vote!  Robert will have voter registration forms with him at our next meeting in two weeks, for anyone who needs one.

Baronial Summer Solemnities news:

Our Barone & Baronessa recognized several gentles for their service during the recent Pennsic war, whether they served at war or at home.

  • To Meistara Thorhalla, for hosting the Home Fires meetings for all who stayed in town for all or part of Pennsic.
  • To our Baronial Champions, whether they were able to attend Pennsic or were called away: Lord Edrik Eiksson, Lady Leonne de Fresne, Lady Lyonnete Vibert, and Lord Muldonny McVriw.
  • To Count Ser Nikolai, Commmander of our Baronial Forces. Ser Nikolai spoke glowingly of the fighters of Cleftlands, who were presented with the Award of the Dragon’s Teeth by their Majesties.
  • And to all those who represented the Barony, whether at war or at home, be it through services, teaching, learning, or other activities.

Lady Genevra is collecting names and dispensing war pay this evening.

Lady Leonne de Fresne was called forth and inducted into the Order of St Clairiel, in recognition of her miraculous work organizing helpers to sew and supply tabards to all Cleftlanders on the field.

Duke Sir EikBrandr has held the Champion’s Sword since the most recent rapier battle and delivered it into court this evening.  The sword will be transferred into the baronial regalia for the standard bearer to carry during more casual occasions.

Barone Pietro brought forth the Challenge Sword of the barony as a reminder of its presence.  The sword is brought out when needed and requested, for members of the barony to issue challenges over it, whether to themselves or others.  He has issued an open challenge to himself and all others who choose to accept: before next Pennsic, to sew into garb all the fabric bought at this year’s Pennsic!  Several stepped forward to join in with stating the challenge over the sword and then having their names recorded.  Anyone who would like to also join in this challenge, or who has another challenge they wish to issue over the sword, need only request its appearance.

Court was followed by the Armored Showcase, with a long list of combatants for a double elimination tournament.  The tournament winner according to combat was Count Ser Nikolai.  The tournament winner according to discussion amongst the fighters’ inspirations was Ivar, competing in his first ever tournament.

Hoobah to all!
