Congratulations Fall 2017 Award Recipients

Congratulations to all the recent Award recipients for October, November, and December!

Cleftlands Yule (20 Dec, 2017)

  • Ealdred of Gwyntarian – Award of Saint Clairiel
  • Clairiel du Vent Argent – Award of Saint Clairiel
  • Aldermoureis Ventzke – Award of Saint Alfred
  • Tarmach ben Yehuda al-Khazari – Award of Saint Alfred

Congratulations Mistress Milesent and Archers!

On October 28th, the Marche of Tirnewydd hosted the event Red Dragon at a new site in Marysville, OH. Heeding the call to arms, the archers of the Cleftlands traveled en masse to the south to arch as well as compete in the William Tell shoot. The price of admission to this tourney was a donation of a canned good to benefit the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, and the prize a hand-crafted bow! Two of our archers, Lord Cadfan of Cleftlands and Lord Meinhard Hamemrschmidt were able to shoot the apple with a single arrow, but the contest went to Mistress Milesent Vibbert and her two!

Of special note, the Cleftlands archers mobilized and collected donations to purchase and present a sizable stack of donations for the food bank.

Huzzah!

All Saints Day Revel

On October 25, the Barony of the Cleftlands celebrated the end of month with a gathering themed All Saints Day. Our many members arrived in saintly costumes, cleverly constructed masks, or in garb to revel the night away. The Cook’s Guild sponsored the subtlety challenge of disguised food and the cooks of the Cleftlands rose to the challenge, featuring several delectable and confusing dishes such as cracked eggs of chocolate and custard or the briefly-seen spider cookies! The Baroness’ gourd decorating challenge was met with several entries, from the chubby cheeked Jareth from Labyrinth to a 14th-century themed pumpkin decorated the pumpkin-headed saint.

Several contests for best costume and gourd were held with the following winners:

  • Best Saint – Wrin of Cleftlands for her depiction of Saint Hubertus
  • Populace Choice – Ginevra for her depiction of Saint Milburga
  • Baroness’ Choice – Sir Lorimer for his Yikebrandr, brother to Eikbrandr
  • Gourd, Baronial – Del
  • Gourd, Populace Choice – Jaquelinne
  • Gourd, Baroness’ Choice – Beatrix.

Special thanks to the revel staff: Æthelwynn Skerra Dimma, Claricia de la Mere, Eira Ylva, Gudrun Andresdottir, Jalen of Cleftlands, Jaromír Skjoldhund, and Rollo Eldström.

Baronial Trim Survey

The custom 1.5″ nebuly trim from Calontir Trim.

As discussed on Wednesday evening, a request for funding was submitted to the baronial officers outlining a purchase of baronial nebuly-themed trim arranged through Calontir Trim. The minimum custom order is 500 meters for a rough total cost of $900. It is our intent to offer the trim locally to barony members for $2.00 per yard which covers the initial investment cost. As the request is greater than $500, the funding request must be presented to the populace.
