Meeting Minutes: 19-June-54

Baron and Baroness, Crispin and Gianna

  • Baron Wars in Toledo is this weekend. Lots of fighting, archery, equestrian, and other activities.  Their Excellencies will have a day shade near the fighting: please join them.
  • Crooked Dragon is next weekend in Falcon’s Quarry. Their Excellencies will also have a day shade here.
  • If you have questions about the new policies on sign-ins at meeting for martial activities, come ask the Marshals.

Seneschal: Cadfan

  • Karl will be stepping up as the new Demo Coordinator.
  • Cadfan is stepping up as Baronial Archery Marshal.
  • Kingdom Seneschal has announced the Anti-Harassment policy must be displayed at all meetings and practices.
  • Kingdom Earl Marshal has announced that we need to return to treating events, meetings, practices, and demos the same with sign-ins, waivers, armor inspections, and active marshals.
  • The Kingdom Seneschal has announced a new policy related to scheduling events that means we probably need schedule most our events further in advance to confirm the dates.

Events

  • NOWM final numbers: 496 people. Total income from the event was $668.60.
  • June Dessert Revel, 26-Jun: Baronial Cookout. Crispin will be grilling hotdogs. Please bring non-grilled side dishes to share.
  • Pennsic (28-Jul to 11-Aug): Pre-registration closes Friday. Please pre-reg.
  • Bardic Madness, 2-Nov, will be in Rocky River.
  • Standard Bearer’s: accepting bids
  • Regular Event: accepting bids.

Officers

  • Archery Marshal, Cadfan: We will be able to do archery at meeting, though it’s risky for arrows. They are working on a way to erect an archery net. Please check the Cleftlands group page for updates on a weekly basis.
  • Rapier Marshal, Velvet: Needs loaner gorgets.
  • Exchequer, Robert. If you donate items, such as gorgets, Robert can give you a receipt to use for your taxes.
  • Pursuivant, Njall: Attendance will be erratic the next few meetings and until Pennsic. He’s looking for those interesting in doing vocal heraldry at meeting.
  • A&S Minister, Runa:
    • On 26-Jun, Madelaine will present a class on Pennsic Food Preparation and Preserving, and will provide samples.
    • Jul-3, Chai will host a panel, “Inside Pennsic,” from someone who has worked in every department and been Mayor.
    • There’s a ‘challenge’ between Brendoken and Cleftlands about whom has the most entries on the A&S portal this quarter. Please make sure you record your A&S activities: armor repair, research, all of it. Please use the new online A&S Activities Tracker on the Midrealm Services Portal (https://a12c.enciva.com)

Guilds and Guild Adjacent Activities

Guilds are the special interest groups of the SCA: people working together to focus on a particular activity. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings.  Please use the new online A&S Activities Tracker on the Midrealm Services Portal (https://a12c.enciva.com)

  • Armorer’s Guild meets at Ealdred and Clairiel’s home this Thursday. Please contact Calum at calum@wowway.com for information or directions.
  • Lubeck usually hosts his Anti-Social (Brewing) club on Thursday. They are currently working on beer and taxidermy. If you’re interested, please contact him as Steve Kerg on Facebook to confirm the meeting.
  • Archery Guild meets, depending on weather, on Mondays 5:30 pm, at Gwyneth’s home, depending on weather.  Please check the Baronial Facebook page for details or contact Gwyneth.
  • Leatherworks Guild meets Tuesdays at Oliver’s at 7 pm. Please contact Oliver at adifferenttwist@gmail.com or on Oliver Stillman on Facebook for directions and information.
  • Needleworkers Guild normally meets 2nd and 4th Tuesdays: but will meet only once in June and July. They will meet next on 9-Jul: the last meeting before Pennsic, at Madelaine’s home on the near west-side. Directions will be posted online, or contact Madelaine at lymadelaine@sbcglobal.net for detail for details and directions.
  • Scribes Guild meets first Mondays, next on 1-Jul, at 7 pm at Brackenburye Cottage. Please contact Melisent at Grace@case.edu with any questions.
  • Cook’s Guild meets first Wednesdays at meeting. On 7-Jul, we’ll be having a ‘Cooking over Fire’ practice on Sun 7-Jul, around 1 pm, at Ealdred and Clairiel’s home on the westside.
