From the Event Stewards:
Lord Martin of Cleftlands, Anubis, and Captain Tryggr Gillason helped tremendously with brute squad needs
Hrafnkell and Ceinwein assisted with key feast flip logistics (…stealing tables from the royals and scribes)
Dorothea put together gift baskets for TRM and TRH
Eleanore van Tyne contributed mugs for the royalty gift baskets
Mistress Milesent Vibert was very helpful to us in her capacity as Herald-in-Charge ensuring Musica Nebulae could be set up smoothly for court
Lord Tariq al Sanna Af Fjall created artwork used for our Pale ads and our schedule handout
Lady Alienor de Saint Remi helped me with sorting out the announcement heraldry throughout the day; she and Lady Katherine Coscombe assisted with advertising the signups. Katherine and Lord Ezra de Barcelona took on the actual announcing shifts, with Ezra taking on 5 of the 6 shifts and graciously adapting the announcement list throughout the day as things came up (lost and found items, class cancellations and swaps)
Popups were volunteered for classrooms and other areas of the event by Mistress Gianna Vettori & Sir Crispin de la Rochefoucauld, Lady Eleanore van Tyne, Lady Jocelin D’Eyncourt & Lord Kirkpatrick of Nottinghamshire, and Lady Mór ingen Áeda & Lord Cyprian of the Faes
Dorothea (Head Server), Baroness Adelaide Kramer, Lady Gwenllian Tarianlas, and Baron Timothy the Just were instrumental in making sure that food was coordinated effectively from the kitchen, to the servers, and onto the tables. Additionally, from what I understand, last minute additions to the server team to fill out the ranks (including help with serving head table under Mistress Aldermoureis Ventzke’s guidance) included Baron Timothy the Just, Lady Octavia of Cleftlands, and Baron Stephan Von Lübeck. Additional servers included Lord Abel Frölicher, Alis (I have not been able to find her full SCA name), Yang Bing-Li, Yang Bing-Ren, Yang Bing-Xin, Yang Bing-Yi, and Yang Bing-Zhi.
Brendan announced at feast, researching how to open and close the feast using appropriate languages for the various regions of Africa covered, and created the feast handouts
Jocelin created new, refreshed signage for the event, which she and Kirk worked to get placed around the event site. Jocelin was also in charge of all of the feast decorations, and coordinated with Mille and Dougal of Brendoken (unsure of titles/full SCA names) to borrow their backdrop for the royal presence
Lady Carolyn le Tricoteuse created white and blue jester hats for the staff, to many people’s delight as well as utility (Cyprian used it as an identifier for instructors to find him to check in!), as well as one of the prizes for the rapier tourney
Jaquelinne (I believe Lady Jaquelinne la Deiciere) created jester-themed pins for the staff
Lady Katherin verch Rhys, Lord Tarmach ben Yehuda al-Khazari, Lord Njall Hreggviðri, and Lord Robert atte Northclyfe gave event running advice, especially early on; the Event Planning Committee was indispensable to putting together the bid and figuring out early logistics.
From the Feast Steward:
A Not So Regular Event has come to a close, and what a truly marvelous day it was!
It was an absolute joy to see so many people come together to share in the experience, and I am delighted that the Voyage Across Africa Feast was so warmly received.
This feast was something I have dreamed about for over a year, and it would have remained just that without the incredible support, effort, and care from our volunteers. From the kitchen to the serving line to the dish pit, every single person played a role in bringing this vision to life. I am deeply grateful to each of you.
Thank y’all for your time, your energy, and your dedication.
