Meeting Minutes: 12-Sep-53

Baron and Baroness

  • Standard Bearer’s will be 22-Sep.
    • If you’d like to participate in the Armored or Rapier tourneys, please make sure you notify the list and the Baron and Baroness when you arrive that you are in that tourney. During the tourney, they will take combatants aside for a quick interview.
    • If you are participating in the A&S Competition, please bring a piece made in the last year. Documentation is desired, but not required. There will also be spaces to put items on display beyond the competition.
    • Archery championships will be held on Mon, 17-Sep at 6 pm at Muldonney and Gwyneth’s home.

Demos: 

  • Sat, 15-Sep and Sun, 16-Sep will be Mapleside Demo. Artair has created a Facebook event online that you can follow to see what’s going on. This demo requires fighters, fencers, displays, dancers, artisans, and people who can talk to a crowd. It leads very nicely into the Newcomer’s Open House at the following Dessert Revel.  Details at https://www.facebook.com/events/1382581408512195/
  • Sat, 6-Oct afternoon will be a demo for the Solon Center for the Arts. They are looking for various artisans: no martial activities. Please let Eve know if you think you can attend.
  • Sat, 3-Nov will be a demo at the Mini Maker’s Fair at the Cleveland Public Library downtown. More details to come.

    • Miriana is looking for donations of baked and other goods for the Breakfast Bar.
    • Clarisca is organizing feast and would be glad of assistance in the kitchen before and afterwards, and is looking for servers.

  • A&S Minister, Runa: Classes! Please tell Runa if you’d like to teach, or provide suggestions about what you’d like to learn.

Guilds

Guilds are the special interest groups of the SCA: people working together to focus on a particular activity. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings.

  • Armorer’s Guild meets at Ealdred and Clairiel’s home is on hiatus for 13-Sep, and 20-Sep due to travel. Please contact Calum at calum@att.net for information or directions.
  • Unofficial Fencing Practice will not meet this Sunday, due to Mapleside. You can contact Cynwrig for details at jimpretz@sbcglobal.net.
  • Archery Guild will not have a practice this upcoming Monday, as they will host the Archery Championships starting around 6 pm pm at the home of Muludonney and Gwyneth. There is plenty of room for spectators, but please bring your own chairs. Please check the Baronial Facebook page for details, or contact Gwyneth.
  • Leatherwork’s Guild meets Tuesdays at Oliver’s at 7 pm. Please contact Oliver at adifferenttwist@gmail.com or on Oliver Stillman on Facebook for directions and information.
  • Needleworkers GuildsThey  meets 2nd and 4th Tuesdays,around 7 pm. Details will be posted online, or you can contact Madelaine at lymadelaine@sbcglobal.net. The Baronial Banner project for Pennsic is proceeding well after the last meeting.
  • Gregorian Chant Choir will meet Wednesday at 7 pm at Baronial meetings. If interested, or even curious, please contact Meridian at arndtvocals@gmail.com: no experience in chant or rehearsal is required.
  • Scribes Guild meets first Mondays at 7 pm at Brackenburye Cottage. Please contact Melisent at Grace@Case.Edu with any questions.
