Seneschal
- The last Baronial Meeting before Pennsic is 19-Jul. The first one after Pennsic is 23-Aug. We will not meet 26-Jul through 16-Aug, due to Pennsic packing, Pennsic, and Pennsic clean-up.
Events
- Brawl at the Crooked Dragon Inn is 8-Jul in Falcon’s Quarry. There will be archery, rapier and armored combat, and equestrian activities. There is no site fee, but a free-will donation is requested.
- Standard-Bearer’s will be 2-Sep. Meinhard is the Event Steward. If you are interesting in helping out please get in touch with him to volunteer. He is especially looking for a rapier marshal.
Demos
- There will be a daytime demo at a Vacation Bible School the second week of July, between 9 am and noon.. If you are available, please contact Eve Liebfried at meeting or via Facebook so she can see which day we will have enough people to do it. He’ll post additional information online after the meeting.
- 16-17 Sept is the Mapleside Demo. Please plan on coming..
- Sir Artair is planning to step down as Demo Coordinator in the next three to four months. Please contact him if you’d like to know more about the position.
Guilds
Guilds are the special interest groups of the SCA: people working together to focus on a particular activity. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings.
- Armorer’s Guild (and the less official Booze and Schmooze) meets at Ealdred and Clairiel’s home this Thursday, 7-10 pm. Please contact Calum at calum@att.net for information or directions.
- Unofficial Fencing Practice meets again this upcoming Sunday. For info on when and where, please contact Cynwrig for details atjimpretz@sbcglobal.net.
- Archery Guild does not meet 4-July. Go to a fireworks display instead.
- Leatherwork’s Guild may or may not meet at Oliver’s at 7 pm on Tuesday for an Open Bench. He will post online whether the meeting occurs. You can also contact Oliver at adifferenttwist@gmail.com or on Oliver Stillman on Facebook for directions and information.
- Tue, Woodworkers Guild meets all Thursdays until Pennsic 7-10 pm at Meinhard’s home. Please contact Meinhard at Meinhard.hammerschmidt@gmail.com for directions or with questions. You can also check the Cleftlands Woodworkers Facebook page.
- Cook’s will gather for ‘Cooking over Fire’ on 9-Jul (the day after Brawl) in the North Chagrin Reservation of the Metroparks. Everyone is welcome.
- Cook’s will also gather on 16-Jul at 1 pm Angharad’s home to make sausage and sauerkraut for the Standard Bearer’s feast and ourselves. Please contact her at BaronessAngharad@gmail.com for information.

- At Pennsic, the Midrealm is allied with the East. Therefore, the baronial tent will be set up on the WEST side of the battlefield, rather than the east, as is usual.

- Kristzian will be organizing the Inspection Tent this year at Pennsic, and is looking for experienced marshall’s to volunteer time doing inspections. Please contact him via Facebook or at meeting to volunteer or ask for details.
- There are many opportunities to volunteer supporting the Midrealm Royalty and Royal Encampment at Pennsic. Please volunteer as Peer on Duty, gate guards, or retainers at http://pennsic.castlewalls.com/.

Baron and Baroness
- Baron Wars on 24-Jun, saw the investiture of Konrad and Isobail as the new Baron and Baroness of Red Spears as Rafael and Margritte stepped down. Meinhard re-authorized in heavy combat, while Gianna authorized as a combat archer. Runa was inducted as a member of the Order of the Dragon’s Heart for her work supporting coursing. Zuriel won the Edible A&S competition with her Raspberry Cordial, while Dasani won the non-edible competition for the enameled reliquary.
