Announcements

  • Artair is stepping down as Demo Coordinator. If you are interested in applying, please go to http://www.cleftlands.org/officer-application/ and apply.
  • Colette is stepping down as A&S Minister. If you are interested in taking on this role, go to http://www.cleftlands.org/officer-application/ to apply. Applications are accepted through 20-Sep.
  • Farthegn is planning to step down in the new future as Youth Armored Combat Marshall. If you’re interested in learning about the role, please contact him for information.
  • There’s a proposal for the Barony to purchase 500 meters of Cleftlands trim from Calontir trim, and then resell it to the populace for use in garb. The populace must approve this expense. Please express your opinion about this proposal before 27-Sep at http://www.cleftlands.org/2017/baronial-trim-survey/.
  • 27-Sep is our Open House for newcomers coming from Mapleside. Please dress in garb and prepare to talk about your arts and activities. If you are fighting, please remember demo rules.
  • The October dessert Revel has a theme of All Saint’s Day.There will be classes on making masks before the Revel. Anyone interested in helping to direct should contact Rollo. There will also be a costume contest.prepare to meet with newcomer’s at their first meeting.  If you are fighting, please remember the demo rules.

Demos

  • Mapleside: Setup starts Fri, 15-Sep 5 pm. The Demo is Sat, 16-Sep, and Sun 17-Sep. Arrive before 10 to drive down to the site. Otherwise you’ll need to carry it down. Ginevra or Birna will be at the top of the hill to provide a wristband authorizing you to enter without paying.

  • Robert – Turn in Standard Bearer’s receipts by 20-Sep.

Guilds and Other A&S Activities

Guilds are the special interest groups of the SCA: people working together to focus on a particular activity. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings.

  • Archery Guild will not meet this Sunday due to the Mapleside Demo.
  • Armorer’s Guild (but not the less official Booze and Schmooze) meets at Ealdred and Clairiel’s home this Thursday, 7-10 pm. Please contact Calum at calum@att.net for information or directions.
  • Woodworkers will not meet this Thursday.
  • Unofficial Fencing Practice will not occur this Sunday.
  • Leatherwork’s Guild will meet at Oliver’s at 7 pm on Tuesday for an Open Bench. Please contact Oliver at adifferenttwist@gmail.com or on Oliver Stillman on Facebook for directions and information.
  • James Barkley will be hosting an open Bookbinding workshop on the Mondays. Please contact him on Facebook as Chuck Minch for details.
  • Scribes guild is assembling a bulk order for pergmenata. Please let Melisent know if you’re interested in participating.

Baron and Baroness

  • At Harvest Days, both Elizabeth and Dmitiri received an Augmentation of Arms.
  • Baronial Court: Njall received the Award of St. Alfred for his service to the Barony.
  • The Barony received a gift at Pennsic of a Baronial scroll case, engraved with scenes for the legends of St. Clariel. Please ask Ginevra to show it to you: it’s a remarkable piece of artwork.
  • Gianna and Crispin are looking for volunteers to coordinate the upcoming revels and tournaments.
