Announcements

  • The Barony is now taking bids for NOWM and Standard Bearers in 2018. Please talk with Cadfan if you want to know what’s involved in an event bid.
  • 75 members of the Barony responded to the poll about purchasing nebuly trim. 88% of the votes were in favor, so the Barony is moving forward with purchasing 500 meters of the trim. If you’d like to see (and touch) a sample, please speak with Cadfan.
  • Eve of Cleftlands (nee Concordia) is stepping up as Demo Coordinator for the Barony.
  • Runa Eikbrandrskona is stepping up as Minister of Arts and Sciences.
  • October Dessert Revel (25-Oct) has a theme of All Saints Day.
    • There will be a Masked Ball: Crispin and Oliver will be teaching classes this month on making masks.
    • Aethelwyn is gathering tableclothes for decorating the hall. Please let her know if you can bring some.
    • Tariq has volunteered to lead the first dance of the evening.
    • The October Cook’s Challenge is “Disguised Foods,” anything that you’ve disguised to look like something else from Texas Sheetcake Graveyards to Cockentrice or Trayne.

Officers

  • Thorin: There were many new fighters tonight, and not enough armor to outfit them. If you have a spare kit, or if you’re not planning on fighting at meeting, please bring your armor to loan to the new fighters. If you have armor you’re not using at all, please consider donating it to the Iron Key for newcomers to borrow.
  • Velvet: He’s organized a Facebook page for the Northern Oaken fencers to share and communicate.

Guilds and Other A&S Activities

Guilds are the special interest groups of the SCA: people working together to focus on a particular activity. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings.

  • Armorer’s Guild (but not the less official Booze and Schmooze) meets at Ealdred and Clairiel’s home this Thursday, 7-10 pm. Please contact Calum at calum@att.net for information or directions.
  • Woodworkers Guild meets this Thursdays,  7-10 pm at Meinhard’s home. Please contact Meinhard at Meinhard.hammerschmidt@gmail.com for directions or with questions. You can also check the Cleftlands Woodworkers Facebook page.
  • Archery Guild meets Sundays at the home of Gwyneth and Muldonney, from 11 til 2. They have a great deal of loaner equipment, including Combat Archery arrows, so if you’re at all interested, please come.
  • Unofficial Fencing Practice usually meet on Sundays. Please contact Cynwrig for details at jimpretz@sbcglobal.net.
  • James Barkley will be hosting an open Bookbinding workshop on Mondays. Please contact him on Facebook as Chuck Minch for details.
  • Leatherwork’s Guild meet at Oliver’s at 7 pm on Tuesdays for an Open Bench. Please contact Oliver at adifferenttwist@gmail.com or on Oliver Stillman on Facebook for directions and information.

Other Announcements

  • Eastwatch holds meeting on 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, 7-9 pm, on the campus of Lake Erie College. There is armored and rapier combat as well as other activities. The address is 391 W Washington St. Painesville, OH 44077.

Baron and Baroness

  • Both Gianna and Crispin greeted the number of newcomers who came to meeting tonight.
  • At Brendokenfest, the Cleftlands team, including Milesent, Edward and Cadfan, were the winners of the team shoot, while Zuriel was the individual winner.  Silverthorne became Brendoken’s Rapier Champion, while Zsof became their Bardic Champion, and Seraphina became their Archery Champion.
